The Gift of Life
As in the garden, our lives go through many stages.
We need to be nurtured, cared for and healed from our fragile beginnings as infants to our final
sunset. At Lee Memorial Health System (LMHS), we are inspired by the life that surrounds us
and deeply moved by the patients we care for each day. Whether it is a tiny baby learning to
breathe on her own, saving the life of a father of four who has had a heart attack, or comforting a
grandmother as her life ends, LMHS stands ready to guide our community members through all
stages of life.
We invite you to be inspired by our stories, connect with your community and thank those who
have given their support to make sure that circle of life continues.
Planting for a Bright Future
As part of our unending quest to deliver medical excellence efficiently and conveniently to
the Southwest Florida community, LMHS announced in 2006 its acquisition of Southwest
Florida Regional Medical Center and Gulf Coast Hospital. From the integration of many of our
operational systems, to the merger of more than 1,500 employees into an expanded System that is
9,000 employees strong, LMHS has become the largest public, not-for-profit health care system in
the state operating without the benefit of local tax support.
These acquisitions will allow our medical system to prosper and continue to meet the needs of our
ever-growing population.
Through much hard work from our talented, compassionate employees, physicians, volunteers
and publicly elected board members, LMHS has had one of its most successful years ever. Once
again, hospitals within LMHS were named among the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation, while 24 of
our physicians were named among the Best Doctors in America 2007-2008 by Best Doctors, Inc.
We are proud of our successes and committed to delivering the very best in high quality, costeffective
health care to those who call Southwest Florida home.
