Jennifer Milliken is the Founder and principal of Milliken Strategy &<br />
Communications, an event content and design consultancy, and the<br />
program Direc<strong>to</strong>r for the women’s Forum global Meeting. previously, she<br />
was principal at Smadja & Associates Strategic Advisory, and Assistant<br />
professor of International Relations at the graduate Institute of International<br />
and Development Studies. Jennifer holds a phD in political Science from the<br />
University of Minnesota, an MA in International Relations from Syracuse<br />
University, and a BA (cum laude) in Communications from Concordia University.<br />
Elisabeth Gilgen is a researcher at the Small Arms Survey. Her research<br />
concentrates on the measuring and moni<strong>to</strong>ring of different forms of armed<br />
violence at a global, regional, and local level, including the characteristics<br />
of weapons, perpetra<strong>to</strong>rs, and victims. She is the coordina<strong>to</strong>r of the Global<br />
Burden of Armed <strong>Violence</strong> report. <strong>From</strong> 2007 <strong>to</strong> 2009, she was an employee<br />
of the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs. She holds a Master’s degree<br />
in political Science and International Law from the University of Berne,<br />
Switzerland. As part of her degree programme, she was a visiting student at<br />
Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.<br />
Jasna Lazarevic is an associate researcher at the Small Arms Survey. Her<br />
primary research interests include arms transfers <strong>to</strong> armed groups and<br />
transparency in the small arms trade, as well as s<strong>to</strong>ckpile management and<br />
surplus destruction. Her work also includes projects on armed violence and<br />
gender issues, focusing in particular on female roles in armed groups and<br />
gangs, as well as females as agents and victims of political violence. She<br />
co-authored the chapter entitled ‘The Other Half: girls in gangs’ for the Small<br />
Arms Survey 2010: Gangs, Groups, and Guns and contributed substantially<br />
<strong>to</strong> a chapter on armed violence <strong>against</strong> women for the Global Burden of Armed<br />
<strong>Violence</strong> report (gD Secretariat, 2008b).<br />
