Wednesdays
With “The
Movie Man”
A dam
Puccini loves to give back.
Every Wednesday night, Twin
Lakes’ residents can relax and enjoy a
movie, courtesy of him.
Puccini, a volunteer who lives nearby and
walks every Wednesday to Twin Lakes, is a
greeter at the McKinley Place Welcome desk.
The movie night was an idea he came up with on his own.
Puccini brings movies in for residents in skilled nursing
to watch. So far they have enjoyed ABC news presents,
“The Century: America’s Time,” hosted by Peter Jennings.
The 15-part series of documentaries begins in the 1900s
and covers decades of the 20th century, each highlighting
events of special interest.
“I thought the residents might enjoy watching these and
North Campus of Twin
Lakes, surrounded by
lush woods, and the home of many
animals, is now officially recognized
as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the
Twin Lakes resident Martha Seaman,
a member of the National Wildlife
nominated the North Campus last
the official certification.
In order to become certified,
the habitat must provide for its
Movie Man.’”
When he is not at the Welcome desk or showing movies
to residents, Puccini plays Scrabble with residents once a
week, and transports one of the Shepherd Court residents
to chapel on Sunday evening. “I look forward to this
and particularly enjoy the time with resident, Sue Geer,”
Puccini said. “She is a special lady to me and very nice, as
are all of the residents.”
