APDU Application Protocol Data Unit<br />

CA Certification authority<br />

CID Card IDentifier<br />

CRL Certificate Revocation List<br />

DES Data encryption standard<br />

DO Data object<br />

DSA Digital signature algorithm<br />

EAL Evaluation assurance level<br />

EEPROM Electrically erasable programmable read only memory. A non-volatile memory<br />

technology where data can be electrically erased and rewritten.<br />

eMRTD An MRTD (passport, visa or card) that has a contactless IC imbedded in it and the<br />

capability of being used for biometric identification of the MRTD holder in<br />

accordance with the standards specified in the relevant Part of <strong>ICAO</strong> Doc 9303.<br />

eMRtd A <strong>Machine</strong> <strong>Readable</strong> Official <strong>Travel</strong> Document that has a contactless IC imbedded in<br />

it and the capability of being used for biometric identification of the MRtd holder in<br />

accordance with the standards specified in this volume of <strong>ICAO</strong> Doc 9303, Part 3.<br />

JPEG A Standard for the data compression of images, used particularly in the storage of<br />

facial images.<br />

JPEG 2000 An updated version of the JPEG standard<br />

MRTD <strong>Machine</strong> <strong>Readable</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> Document conforming to <strong>ICAO</strong> Doc 9303, Part 1, 2 or 3<br />
