After many years of working in the transport portfolio covering the taxi, hire car and driving instructor industries and, many more years ago, the bus and road freight sectors, Garry Ellis decided to contribute to the current downsizing of the Victorian public service and retired from the Victorian Taxi Directorate on 19 October 2012. Garry said that over the years he has had the pleasure of meeting and dealing with many good people in and around the various regulated industries and through all levels of government. Having been through a number of industry reforms and departmental restructures he will watch with great interest to see how the new regulatory model evolves in Victoria over the next couple of years.
