airPorT NeWs changes at Melbourne airport Melbourne Airport taxi system upgrade complete There are some minor changes to procedures for taxis at Melbourne Airport following an upgrade to the taxi gates. The upgrade means that printed tickets are no longer required. Signs and stickers which inform passengers to ask drivers for tickets, as proof of purchase will be updated in due course. In the interim, the VTD has produced an open letter to the taxi industry regarding the airport parking fee and ticketing change. A copy of this letter (which is available via the VTD website www.taxi.vic.gov.au), should be retained in each applicable taxi and can be presented to passengers if required. With regard to access into Depot Drive yard, drivers should now simply remain in the same lane as the gate they enter in. By remaining in the same lane this will ensure a smooth flow and access to the airport’s taxi ranks, all taxis are to simply merge, one vehicle at a time from the right and left lanes when entering into and exiting from Service Road. Melbourne Airport appreciates your patience as these new procedures are introduced to improve efficiency and service.
