<strong>Malente</strong> features a huge variety of attractive sport and recreational<br />
facilities, e.g. the first Nordic Fitness Park of Northern Germany<br />
which provides excellent conditions for beginners and advanced<br />
walkers with 21 different routes of 152.2 km length. In contrast the<br />
high ropes course of <strong>Malente</strong> gives the chance to experience ones<br />
potential. Furthermore <strong>Malente</strong> possesses of the biggest Kneipp<br />
pool at Lake Dieksee. Sebastian Kneipp developed 5 principles: 1st<br />
the healthy effect of water, 2nd balanced meals, 3rd usage of herbs,<br />
4th vitality through exercise and 5th harmony between mind and<br />
body. He revolutionized natural medicine with this philosophy in the<br />
19th century. <strong>Malente</strong> offers lots of Kneipp-possibilities as well as a<br />

The Salt oasis is a place of well-being which influences your health<br />
and body positively and helps to cure various illness symptoms.<br />
The salt oasis is filled with more than 20 tons of Himalayan as well<br />
as Dead Sea and sea salt and offers an ideal surrounding to relax<br />
for 45 minutes.<br />

Museum of local history<br />
The small cottage was<br />
named after the family Tews<br />
who was once owner of the<br />
cottage, which originates<br />
from the time of the Thirty<br />
Years’ War and is the oldest<br />
smoke cottage in Eastern<br />
Holstein. Today it is converted<br />
to a museum of local history and can be visited. It exhibits<br />
old agricultural equipment, tools and furniture.<br />
Opening hours: Tue – Sun 2 pm – 5 pm, (Easter to October,<br />
Groups only on request), Admission free!<br />

Exhibitions regularly take place in this old thatched small cottage.<br />
Furthermore it hosts the civil registry’s<br />

During this 12km passage through the lake district of Holstein’s<br />
Switzerland Lake Dieksee, Lake Langensee, Lake Behlersee, Lake<br />
Höftsee and Lake Edebergsee are getting crossed. The boat passes<br />
tranquil bays, wonderful headlands, hatcheries of seabirds and<br />
noble beech groves.<br />

laKe Kellersee tOur (5)<br />
Enjoy water, air and landscape on Lake Kellersee. Be inspired by<br />
the tranquility and beauty of the nature of this region, which has<br />
also inspired many painters, poets and artists.<br />

erratic bOulder parK (6)<br />
Several heavy, tall erratic boulders from<br />
the last ice age can be visited in a park at<br />
Kreuzfeld. A 126 tons heavy erratic boulder<br />
builds the centre point of the park.<br />
lOOK-Out (7)<br />
140 steps lead to two platforms of 16 and<br />
24 m height at the lookout at Neversfelde.<br />
Once reached the top, a fantastic panoramic<br />
view over Holstein’s Switzerland<br />
can be experienced. At high visibility one can<br />
even spot the shipyard crane of Kiel and the high buildings at the Baltic<br />
Sea. The path to the lookout is signposted.<br />
The ascent is free of charge.<br />
GaMe reserve & arbOretuM (8)<br />
The game reserve of <strong>Malente</strong>, possesses of 20 ha of spaceand gives<br />
home to red deer, fallow deer and wild boars. Closed: October/November.<br />
The adjacent arboretum is home to more than 100 forest species<br />
from all over the world, which are to some extent rarely found.<br />

cures meat according to<br />
old traditional recipes.<br />
Specialties of Holstein,<br />
e.g. smoked ham, original<br />
“Rum-Mettwurst” (cured<br />
sausagemeat spread) and<br />
lamb-ham can be tasted,<br />
eaten and purchased. Besides there are solid hotpots and snacks<br />
offered daily. Farmhouse bread from sourdough is baken in the old<br />
wood stone oven thrice weekly.<br />

The landscape gardener Karl Plomin and the architect Peter Arp created<br />
in close collaboration the 56,000 m big park in 1962, which<br />
was reopened after restoration in 2008. Guided tours take regularly<br />
place within main season and during low season on request. Further<br />

Glaziery and Gallery (11)<br />
You can evidence the handcraft of a gaffer who forms, blows and<br />
stretches molten glass manually to aesthetic objects.<br />

Sundays and holidays 10 am – 5 pm<br />

WunderWelt Wasser (12)<br />
A possibility to experience nature with all senses offers the natural<br />
area at the floodplain of <strong>Malente</strong>. Guided tours at the Tourismus-<br />
Service <strong>Malente</strong>.<br />
Gut iMMenhOf (13)<br />
Many people know Gut Rothensande due to the three Immenhofmovies,<br />
which were shooted at this property in the 50`s. The movies<br />
with the two girls who save the pony farm from insolvency<br />
enthused many generation.<br />
iMMenhOf-MuseuM (14)<br />
People who are interested in the movies may visit the Immenhofmuseum<br />
at Kampstraße 1 or take part at guides bus-tours to the<br />
