Malente features a huge variety of attractive sport and recreational
facilities, e.g. the first Nordic Fitness Park of Northern Germany
which provides excellent conditions for beginners and advanced
walkers with 21 different routes of 152.2 km length. In contrast the
high ropes course of Malente gives the chance to experience ones
potential. Furthermore Malente possesses of the biggest Kneipp
pool at Lake Dieksee. Sebastian Kneipp developed 5 principles: 1st
the healthy effect of water, 2nd balanced meals, 3rd usage of herbs,
4th vitality through exercise and 5th harmony between mind and
body. He revolutionized natural medicine with this philosophy in the
19th century. Malente offers lots of Kneipp-possibilities as well as a
huge variety of sports and health activities. Further information can

salt Oasis (1)
The Salt oasis is a place of well-being which influences your health
and body positively and helps to cure various illness symptoms.
The salt oasis is filled with more than 20 tons of Himalayan as well
as Dead Sea and sea salt and offers an ideal surrounding to relax
for 45 minutes.

Museum of local history
The small cottage was
named after the family Tews
who was once owner of the
cottage, which originates
from the time of the Thirty
Years’ War and is the oldest
smoke cottage in Eastern
Holstein. Today it is converted
to a museum of local history and can be visited. It exhibits
old agricultural equipment, tools and furniture.
Opening hours: Tue – Sun 2 pm – 5 pm, (Easter to October,
Groups only on request), Admission free!

Exhibitions regularly take place in this old thatched small cottage.
Furthermore it hosts the civil registry’s
room for wedding
ceremonies.

During this 12km passage through the lake district of Holstein’s
Switzerland Lake Dieksee, Lake Langensee, Lake Behlersee, Lake
Höftsee and Lake Edebergsee are getting crossed. The boat passes
tranquil bays, wonderful headlands, hatcheries of seabirds and
noble beech groves.

laKe Kellersee tOur (5)
Enjoy water, air and landscape on Lake Kellersee. Be inspired by
the tranquility and beauty of the nature of this region, which has
also inspired many painters, poets and artists.

erratic bOulder parK (6)
Several heavy, tall erratic boulders from
the last ice age can be visited in a park at
Kreuzfeld. A 126 tons heavy erratic boulder
builds the centre point of the park.
lOOK-Out (7)
140 steps lead to two platforms of 16 and
24 m height at the lookout at Neversfelde.
Once reached the top, a fantastic panoramic
view over Holstein’s Switzerland
can be experienced. At high visibility one can
even spot the shipyard crane of Kiel and the high buildings at the Baltic
Sea. The path to the lookout is signposted.
The ascent is free of charge.
GaMe reserve & arbOretuM (8)
The game reserve of Malente, possesses of 20 ha of spaceand gives
home to red deer, fallow deer and wild boars. Closed: October/November.
The adjacent arboretum is home to more than 100 forest species
from all over the world, which are to some extent rarely found.

The Petersen family still
cures meat according to
old traditional recipes.
Specialties of Holstein,
e.g. smoked ham, original
“Rum-Mettwurst” (cured
sausagemeat spread) and
lamb-ham can be tasted,
eaten and purchased. Besides there are solid hotpots and snacks
offered daily. Farmhouse bread from sourdough is baken in the old
wood stone oven thrice weekly.

The landscape gardener Karl Plomin and the architect Peter Arp created
in close collaboration the 56,000 m big park in 1962, which
was reopened after restoration in 2008. Guided tours take regularly
place within main season and during low season on request. Further

Glaziery and Gallery (11)
You can evidence the handcraft of a gaffer who forms, blows and
stretches molten glass manually to aesthetic objects.
Opening hours: Mon – Sat 9 am – 6 pm,
Sundays and holidays 10 am – 5 pm
low season (01.10. – 31.03.): Saturday afternoon and on
Sundays and holidays closed.
WunderWelt Wasser (12)
A possibility to experience nature with all senses offers the natural
area at the floodplain of Malente. Guided tours at the Tourismus-
Service Malente.
Gut iMMenhOf (13)
Many people know Gut Rothensande due to the three Immenhofmovies,
which were shooted at this property in the 50`s. The movies
with the two girls who save the pony farm from insolvency
enthused many generation.
iMMenhOf-MuseuM (14)
People who are interested in the movies may visit the Immenhofmuseum
at Kampstraße 1 or take part at guides bus-tours to the
