Music Auditions General Information • Auditions for music ensembles take place during Orientation Week. Sign-up sheets for audition times are located outside the audition rooms in Hvidsten Hall of Music (see instructions under ensembles below) . • For first-year students involved in Orientation activities, auditioning involves missing only a brief portion of the activities during a given day . Students are asked to make every effort to be prompt for their audition times . Choir Auditions • Choir auditions are easy and require no advanced preparation of solos or sight-reading. We have choirs for first-year and transfer students . There is no fee to be involved in choir and most singers are not music majors . • All students interested in choir should sign up for an appointment outside of Mr. Culloton’s door, Hvidsten 145 . Michael Culloton; culloton@cord .edu Instrumental Music Auditions • Membership into any of the Concordia College concert bands, orchestras and jazz ensembles is open to any interested student who completes an audition . The annual audition process takes place during the week in which classes begin each fall . Auditions are designed to be an encouraging experience for all students . • Regardless of previous experience and/or skill level, there is a place for interested wind and percussion instrumentalists to make music at Concordia College! • The audition process, especially for new students, primarily allows music department faculty to appropriately place musicians into the many instrumental ensembles offered at Concordia College . Borrowing Instruments Concordia College maintains an inventory of more specialized wind instruments (e .g ., oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, horn, euphonium and tuba) . For further information, please contact department chair Dr . Robert Chabora at chabora@cord .edu . Concordia has 19 music organizations. Students take more than 700 private lessons weekly.
