Henaghan, COM ’94 Nancy & Richard Hill Putting Catholic education within reach DePaul parents Ted and Kathy Baer began researching giving opportunities before their son— a freshman in the fall of 2005—had even moved into his dorm room or cracked open a book. “We are big believers in Catholic education,” Kathy said. “No child should be denied that opportunity.” The Baers advanced DePaul’s mission of providing students with the opportunity for a Catholic education with their donation of $10,000 to the John P. Minogue Scholarship Fund in Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI). In exploring DePaul’s many giving options, the Baers identified most with the Minogue scholarship, which provides financial assistance to CTI students in good academic standing who otherwise would not be able to complete their degree. “Our son has been fortunate to attend Catholic schools all his life and receive an excellent education,” Kathy said. “We felt it was important to start giving now so DePaul could provide the same experience to others.” Though not alumni themselves, the Baers were impressed with DePaul from the moment they set foot on campus. “Our son just felt at home here,” Kathy said. “Everyone we met with was so friendly and welcoming. DePaul is able to provide a traditional college feel while offering all the benefits of a big-city location.” Since donating to the Minogue scholarship, the Baer family has also generously contributed $10,000 to the Sullivan-McGrath Campaign. Through this campaign, the athletic department aims to raise $3.9 million to upgrade facilities for competition within the BIG EAST conference. Mrs. Sharon M. Hillman & Mr. William T.
