From the Chair
Dear Alumni and Friends,
When you turn through the pages of this Annual Report,
you will see that thousands of alumni and friends have
demonstrated their confidence in DePaul University
through their generous financial support. We express our
gratitude to all of our benefactors.
As chair of DePaul’s Board of
Trustees and an alumnus, I am
very proud of our achievements
during the past year. We have
realized some critical gains in
the fundraising area.
This past fiscal year, DePaul
raised more than $ 2 million,
a 49 percent increase over
the previous year. We saw
growth in sources of gifts and
types of contributions. It is
particularly gratifying that
alumni giving has more than
doubled. Planned giving has also
increased significantly. DePaul’s
endowment continues to grow,
reaching a market value of
$252 million on June 30, 2005.
I believe these results confirm
DePaul’s success in achieving
its mission to provide a quality
education to its diverse student
body composed of traditional
four-year undergraduates,
adult undergraduates, graduate
students, and part- and full-time
degree seekers.
Since its founding 08 years ago,
over 00,000 DePaul alumni
have benefited enormously
from their DePaul education.
I am dedicated to laying the
financial groundwork that will
continue to make the same
quality educational experience
accessible to future generations.
Much remains to be done to
raise our level of fundraising and
endowment to be on par with
other institutions. Only by doing
so can we secure DePaul’s future.
Our achievements of the past
year demonstrate that we are
on the right course. We are
well positioned to build on our
success and have set ambitious
goals. I appreciate and encourage
your continued investment
as we dedicate ourselves to
strengthening DePaul with the
resources that are so necessary to
enable the students of tomorrow
to be empowered by a DePaul
education.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
John B. Simon, JD ’67
