The Media Pool is BrandMaker‘s Media Asset Management system. It allows
you to manage your digital and multi-media assets and make them available
company-wide. Whether it‘s pictures, graphics, audio files, videos, PDF files,
MS Office, Adobe® InDesign® and QuarkXPress® documents - centrally stored
and indexed with keywords and meta data - you can find media objects
quickly and use them again immediately.
And, with the automated file conversion you can retrieve the media instan-
taneously in a channel-specific format. Time-consuming searches for
available media objects, unsorted data pools and outdated materials are
things of the past thanks to the Media Pool.

Functions
One central source for all media objects and assets
The Media Pool is a database that manages all conventional image
file formats. In addition, BrandMaker manages audio and video
files, PDF, Adobe® InDesign® and QuarkXPress® documents, as
well as MS Office files such as PowerPoint presentations or Word
documents.
Search criteria
Access the media you need quickly and easily using a broad range
of search criteria such as keywords, file size, formats or approval
requirements. In addition, you can sort your media using your own
filing structure including “virtual“ folders.
Media preview
The media preview function allows you to view the content of your
documents and files before downloading. You can view content
regardless of its original file format, which means you can view
InDesign® documents in the same way you view PDF or Power-
Point files. You can even scroll through documents with multiple
pages. Similarly, you can watch videos and/or listen to audio files.
File Import
Upload media objects individually or all at once to the Media
Pool. BrandMaker automatically reads the meta data of the media
objects during the import process and transfers it automatically.
The Media Pool even checks for duplicate files to prevent redundancies.
Download, image processing and conversion
When you specify the intended use of the media objects -- online, in
a presentation, for print, etc, -- the desired files are automatically
converted to the proper format. You can even process images
prior to download, cropping and resizing it, for example.
Licensing and approval management
The Media Pool ensures that media objects are used only in line
with existing license and usage restrictions and within the dates of
validity. Media objects are automatically deactivated upon expiration
and cannot be used or downloaded. In addition, approval processes
can be enabled to ensure that the media objects are used
only for their intended purpose and meet quality standards.
Lightboxes and favorites
By using lightboxes, it is even easier for you to access and forward
your favorite and/or most often used media.
Team rooms and rights
The Media Pool offers secured areas for different departments of your
company and/or external partners (e.g. agencies) allowing each to
administer its own media objects.
Cross-referencing
You can cross-reference media objects so that each user must specify
how the media object will to be used (e.g. online, internally or externally).
With the click of a mouse, you can generate reports showing
where and how each asset has been used.
Web-based and integratable
The Media Pool is completely web-based, like all BrandMaker modules,
and does not require any software installation. Additionally, the Media
Pool can be integrated into your existing company or brand portals as
well as other applications.
Add-Ons
Media Pool connector for designers
Direct connection of the media database with desktop programs such
as QuarkXPress® or Adobe® InDesign® makes your designer‘s job easier.
You can open documents and media objects stored in the Media Pool
directly from these programs, edit and save them back with minimal
time, effort and mouse-clicks.
Expanded meta data and file types
You can customize the types of files you are able to store, file suffixes
and saved information about your assets as needed.
Smart Access
Smart Access intuitively guides you to media objects. You are able to
structure the individual steps as you wish -- by subject area, product
groups and market segments, etc. The structure is determined according
to your needs.
DTP extension
Connection of the Media Pool with Adobe® InDesign® or QuarkXPress®
server(s) enables you to convert DTP documents stored in the Media
Pool into PDF files and other formats automatically without requiring
on-site installation of these programs.

Modules Working Together
Web-to-Print
The Web-to-Print module makes it possible for you to individualize
different media and prepare them for print without the use of
design software. When you integrate the Web-to-Print module
with the Media Pool, you can centrally manage print templates
(InDesign® or QuarkXPress®) and make them available for companywide
use. Users acan access alternative images from the Media
Pool when localizing print templates and transfer these images to
the document located in the Web-to-Print module.
Job Manager
The Job Manager is the central module for project and workflow
management. Integration of this module enables you to produce
media efficiently and transparently regardless of whether the job
has been assigned internally or to service provider. The Job Manager
allows you compose briefings and all associated information
available to other job participants in a standardized and complete
fashion. When integrated with Media Pool, you can attach media
objects and assets associated with a job request to each job. And
once completed, jobs that result in newly created media assets
can be easily saved to the Media Pool for use without having to
import them back again.

Review Manager
If you connect the Review Manager module to the Media Pool along
with the Job Manager, you can seamlessly document and easily
track reviews and comments on existing assets. Mark-up and
comment functions enable you to add comments, track who said
what, when and manage the actual changes to your assets. Automatic
e-mail notifications are sent any time changes are made to
a file and/or the review of a file is required. You can follow the
progression of the vartious versions of files to their current status
via a comprehensive comment trail.
Marketing Planner
The Media Pool can be completely integrated with the Marketing
Planner, BrandMaker‘s module for planning, budgeting and management
of your marketing activities and campaigns. Connecting these
modules allows you to link the materials and media objects you
need for campaign planning and execution to the individual elements
of your campaigns. This makes it easy for users to not only
view planning information but also access the associated media
and assets directly from the marketing planning module.
