Chamber plans Member Appreciation Lunch

The Wells County Chamber
of Commerce wants to
thanks its members.
And it is planning to
throw a “Member Appreciation
Lunch” to do it.
Plans are underway for a
free hot dog, baked beans,
pretzels and cookie lunch
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on
Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the
Arts, Commerce and Visitors
Centre.
Chamber ambassadors
and the Board of Directors
will be on hand to greet,
serve and personally show
their appreciation to members
for their membership
and support of the organization.

hospital will be recognized
on the Joint Commission’s
Qualitycheck.org website.

Wind turbine firm taking over plant
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A Dutch company that
designs and makes wind turbine blades will open its first
U.S. facility at a former refrigerator plant in Evansville that
Whirlpool Corp. closed last year.
Global Blade Technology executives joined Gov. Mitch
Daniels and city officials in the announcing that the company
would lease a portion of the factory for offices and production
lines for making wind blades, molds and tooling.
Jay, Randolph wind project breathes
Portland Commercial Review
A major wind turbine project in southern Jay and northern
Randolph counties that once appeared dead is very much
alive, local officials said this week.
Bill Bradley, executive director of Jay County Development
Corp., told his board that the project is likely to move
forward. The project, in the planning stages for several
years, hit a snag when American Electric Power elected to
purchase power from the developer of a proposed wind farm
in central Indiana. A new company, however, has stepped up
to replace AEP.
