GOLF DE ROSES Compared to the rest of the Costa Brava, the wide 

bay in which our Club Mistral Golf de Roses is located, is still untouched 

and offers a beautiful landscape. Moreover it is the windiest area of the 

whole Catalan coastline. Thanks to the constantly blowing thermal winds 

and the Tramontana, which is the dominant wind in spring and autumn, 

windsurfers and kitesurfers of all levels find the right conditions in Golf de 

Roses. Our center is also known for the great kids tuition offered. The spot 

is perfectly suited for kids & youngsters who will for sure discover the fun 

of windsurfing! 

GRAN CANARIA home of many windsurfing pros and location of the PWA 

World Cup, is the windiest island of the Canaries. The mountains, up to 

2000 m high, intensify the thermal winds which blow constantly throughout 

the whole year. Our Club Mistral center, open all year long and located 

in Bahia Feliz, is the right place for those who are looking for extreme 

conditions and extreme fun on the water – and don´t need so much action 

on land. Bahia Feliz is a very relaxed and quiet place and thus completely 

different to the other tourist centers on Gran Canaria. 

TARIFA for ages “Europe’s Capital of Wind” has been THE destination for 

all windsurfing and kitesurfing addicts. Thanks to top conditions throughout 

the whole year, this is the place where water lovers will feel more 

than comfortable. With two centers we cover the whole range offered in 

Tarifa, and everybody will find the right spot suited to their level. Tarifa 

and its environment also have lots to offer on land: cultural attractions, 

a glittering nightlife and a completely different world just a stone’s throw 

away: Morocco.

THE SPOT IN TARIFA 

The 10 km long sandy beach of Tarifa is one of the longest and most 

beautiful of Andalusia. A mostly sandy bottom with only very few rocks provides 

easy access to the water. A sure sign of the steadily blowing winds 

is the huge sand dune at the end of the bay of Valdevaqueros, which the 

“Levante” has created over many years. In the Straight of Gibraltar the 

wind accelerates via a funnelling effect, reaching 8bft. on the “big days”. In 

July and August, during high season, the beach and Tarifa itself get very 

crowded. 

WIND AND WAVES 

There are two main wind directions in Tarifa. During summer the Levante 

is the dominant wind. It blows cross-offshore from the left (east). With a 

light Levante some pretty nice waves can occur. With a strong Levante 

the water is flat to choppy. During spring and autumn the main wind is 

the “Poniente”, which blows side shore/side onshore from the right (west). 

THE CENTER 

The center “Valdevaqueros” is located right next to the small hotel “Rancho 

Valdevaqueros”, close to the big dune. Inside the protected bay the water 

is flat to choppy, a rather challenging shore break may occur when the 

wind is blowing side onshore (Poniente). Beginner lessons depend on the 

conditions and are not always possible. At Valdevaqueros we offer both 

windsurfing and kitesurfing. To avoid any chaos, the spot is divided into 

different zones. 

At the Club Mistral Hurricane we offer windsurfing rental & lessons and 

kitesurfing lessons. As kitesurfing is prohibited right in front of the center, 

we take our students to either Valdevaqueros or “Dos Mares”, depending 

on conditions. Apart from rental and lessons we also provide storage 

facilities for your own equipment as well as a small shop. During summer 

the water is flat to choppy, from autumn until spring it gets rather wavy (up 

to 2 m). A shore break only occurs with onshore conditions (Poniente). 

There is a small wind shadow close to the beach, but once you have 

passed it, the Levante delivers Rancho Valdevaqueros its full strength. As there are some rocks 

and reef plates inside the water, Hotel we 100% recommend Fun wearing shoes. At both 

centers, Hurricane and Valdevaqueros, Las Flores there are small bars serving you

The Hurricane Hotel is the most popular surf hotel, located right on the 

beach. Our Club Mistral Center is on the hotel’s premise. It is surrounded 

by a beautiful, lush, subtropical garden with a swimming pool. Despite 

the rather high value for money the hotel is always fully booked well in 

advance during high season. The rooms are large with contemporary 

style furnishings. The hotel’s restaurant is widely known in the area for 

its great fish dishes.

Accommodations 

Hotel Punta Sur I 

Hotel Punta Sur surely is one of the most charming and most beautiful accommodations in Tarifa and a great place for families. The guestrooms are arranged 

in several bungalow style buildings, spread in the lavish and well-kept gardens. You instantly feel very comfortable here. The rooms are very spacious 

and nicely furnished, each featuring a private little garden. We can definitely recommend the Junior Suites with free standing bath tub – simply amazing. 


Hotel La Peña I 

The rural hotel La Peña is located at a wind protected spot on the hillside, 

almost right behind Hotel Hurricane. Here you will find absolute peace 

and tranquility. It is a small, cozy hotel with familial flair and a swimming 

pool in the garden. The rooms are rather functionally, yet nicely furnished. 

La Peña is a great alternative accommodation, not only in terms of the 

price. Both our Club Mistral Centers are only a short drive away. 


Rancho Valdevaqueros I 

This rustic, refurbished manor is situated at our second center in Tarifa, 

Club Mistral & Skyriders Valdevaqueros. In the mornings you enjoy a 

Spanish breakfast on the patio and monitor the spot, so you can be ready 

and jump on your board right when the action starts. The seven guestrooms 

are very simply furnished but nicely decorated. Thanks to its great 

location right at the spot it is very popular amongst surfers and also fully 

booked well in advance during the summer. 


Las Flores Appartements I 

Las Flores offers apartments for 2-5 persons. They are rather spacious, 

very cozy and provide either one or two separate bedrooms, shower/WC, 

kitchen and living room. The lush garden surrounding the buildings features 

a swimming pool and sun terrace. Mountain bike rental is available. 

The roof top terrace provides a great view of the Strait of Gibraltar and 

Morocco, which is just 15 km away. Las Flores is the best choice for all 

budget travelers as well as families.
