Spotlight on Students
By Josh F., senior
I’m Josh and this is my second year at Rock Point. I’m very passionate
about both weather and skiing, and am eagerly awaiting the upcoming
ski season. This year I’m working with Rosie and Kathy on the Vermont
Streams Project, studying whether climate change may be affecting two
local streams. I’m looking forward to studying meteorology in college
next year and someday forecasting the weather on The Weather
Channel. If you’re visiting the school, look for my daily weather forecast
outside of Lonnie’s office!
James arrived at Rock Point in late September as a member of the junior
class. He is extremely passionate about many, many aspects of computer
programming, as well as an avid piano player. He also enjoys cooking and
skiing. James seems to enjoy Rock Point so far, and has taken the initiative
to “question and amend the rules for the greater good,” as well as being an
active participant in the dorm. James is looking forward to spending more
time programming and playing soccer for sports class more often.
Carl is a sophomore this year at Rock Point, and arrived in July for the 1 st
RPS Summer Program. Carl really enjoys sports class and staying active
throughout the week. He also enjoys writing and making people laugh as
the school comedian. When asked about how he likes Rock Point, he said
“I like it a lot here, but I have my days getting used to it.” Carl is looking
forward to many of the activities coming up this year and hopes to play
sports at neighboring Burlington High School at some point this year.
Dani is a freshman at Rock Point this year and first arrived during the
Summer Program. She is interested in music as well as hanging out with
friends and doing homework. So far Dani is thoroughly enjoying Rock
Point and what it has to offer. “I love it; it’s like moving into a new life,”
she said when I asked her how she was liking RPS. Looking ahead to the
rest of the year, Dani is looking forward to getting to know her peers and
teachers even better.
