A stunning example of neoclassical architecture, it is hard to believe<br />
that Four Seasons Sultanahmet was once a bleak Ottoman jailhouse for<br />
intellectual dissidents. Located on Tevkifhane Sokak, ‘Jailhouse Street’,<br />
the Sultanahmet still bears the inscription Dersaadet Cinayet Tevkifhanesi,<br />
‘Capital City Murder Jail’, on its main gate. The prison exercise yard has<br />
been reincarnated as an immaculate hotel courtyard with an elegant<br />
Seasons Restaurant glass pavilion serving afternoon tea. Just a stone’s<br />
throw away from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, Four Seasons<br />
