COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF
If you want to be sure that SJ Berwin is the right law firm for you then a vacation scheme is an absolute must. Not only
do vacation schemes provide students with the perfect opportunity to prove their worth and demonstrate their talents
over the course of two weeks of seminars, events and time spent in a department, it also allows students to sample
the real workings of the firm. Doing a vacation scheme really is the best route to a contract with SJ Berwin, and the
firm recruits the majority of its future trainees in this way. As a taster of what to expect, here are a few thoughts from
this summer’s students…
TIME OUT
Alexander Henderson
“The other vacation scheme students and I met
up every day for the free lunch at ‘Stanley's
Restaurant’ or headed up to the impressive roof
terrace to relax. Those more adventurous could
also stroll across the bridge to Borough Market.”
‘WORKING’ ON A SATURDAY
Liam Heffernan
“No, I didn’t have to work over the weekend! Earlier in
the week the trainees had scouted-out the vacation
scheme students to give their 5-a-side teams a
youthful boost for the SJ Berwin inter-department
tournament. The hangovers were forgotten as the
football began and we had to battle on with no subs
on the bench. All in all it was a good day and a
chance to get to know more people from SJ Berwin.”
QUIZ NIGHT
Liam Heffernan
“When our first day finished up, we had a quiz
night in the office to get to know each other.
Luckily we weren’t being assessed on our
performance as our team finished close to the
bottom! We then ended the evening with a much
deserved drink at the Banker.”
MEETING YOUR DEPARTMENT
Alexander Henderson
“I was in the Financial Markets team and was
made to feel very welcome. I was surprised that
everyone from secretaries to partners had shown
an interest in my arrival and taken the time to
speak to me about their roles. At the end of the
day it was off to the infamous local pub for a drink
with some of the trainees.”
