cleaning system
PFS Fueltec, a fuel storage
installation, leak prevention and
spillage clear-up specialist, has
added C.C Jensen fuel cleaning
systems to its range.
Historically, CCJ filter separators
were offline systems, but their new
inline system can be used on fuel
dispensing pumps between the
pump outlet and the refuelling
nozzle, filtering the fuel before it
enters the vehicle storage tanks.
The CCJ filter separator cuts
moisture down to low levels and at
the same time captures particles
and absorbs sludge into the filter
media. Each filter insert can catch
around 5 kg of dirt before change
is required. The systems are
modular and can deal with
quantities from 100 litres up to 1
million litres.
Jensens supply over 90% of the
Danish fishing fleet and Scottish
skippers are retro-fitting the system
to their boats. On land, the
company’s filter systems are in use
in quarries and transport fleets.

FUEL TANKER OPERATOR SUCKLING
Transport has noted a big reduction in
the severity and frequency of crashes in
the fleet.
Suckling Transport reports a 76% decline
last year in the severity of accidents,
with the frequency of accidents falling
from an average of 6.12 per one million
kilometres during the previous four
years to 2.88 in 2009. That reduction
resulted in a 14% insurance premium
decrease this year.
The Essex-based company operates a
fleet of 65 tankers, which deliver almost
two billion litres of inflammable liquid
per year across the UK from 10 oil
terminals to filling stations and other
commercial delivery points. It also has
eight company cars. The total fleet
travels approximately 9.5 million
kilometres (six million miles) a year
Suckling, whose main clients include
Shell UK Oil and ConocoPhillips,
launched a Zero Incident Project two
years ago to try to eliminate accidents,
and the latest figures are a major step in
the right direction.
Suckling’s MD Peter Larner champions
the company’s approach to road safety.
He says: “The company competes in a
market sector dominated by large,
