Local woman celebrates her 100th birthday with family
Chamber board nominations
deadline nearing
The Cherokee County Chamber
of Commerce Nominating
Committee and Board of Directors
have unanimously approved
the following members to serve a
three-year term on the Board of
Directors (2011 - 2013): Lewis
Cline, Bank of North Georgia;
Rod Drake, Georgia Power Co.;
Steve Hudson, Northside Hospital-Cherokee;
Rick Ingram, Regions
Bank; Rick Kononen, First
Cherokee State Bank; Jason
Nelms, Everlast Synthetic Products;
and Jo Ellen Wilson, Reinhardt
University.
According to the Chamber By-
Laws, additional names of candidates
for directors can be nominated
by petition bearing the genuine
signatures of at least 10 percent
of the Chamber’s primary
representatives.
The petition must be on forms
provided by the Chamber. The
number of signatures needed
will be determined by the Chamber
staff and provided to interested
parties.

Only members in good standing
(membership investment is
current) are eligible to sign the
petition.
A list of the eligible Chamber
representatives will be provided
along with the petition forms.
Deadline for petitions is 5 p.m.
Oct. 1. The determination of the
nominating committee, as to the
legality of the petition, shall be
final.
If no petition is filed within the
designated period, the nominations
shall be closed and the nominated
slate of candidates shall
be declared elected.
In the event that petitions are
received a ballot will be mailed to
the Chamber’s primary representatives,
and they will have 15 days
to vote for seven candidates.

Shelter contest under way

Shelter currently is enlisting the
help of the public to name their

said the dog, which is featured
out front of the adoption center,
was donated in memory of a
beloved pet. This dog is there to
“watch over” all the animals
awaiting adoption. To enter a
name, either stop by the shelter
or mail in the entry for the Name
Our Dog Contest, which ends
Sept. 25. Be sure to include a
name for the dog, as well as contact
information for the individual
who submitted the name. Entries
will be judged and voted on
by the shelter staff, and the winning
entry will receive a prize.
Woodstock Police to host
bicycle rodeo safety event
The Woodstock Police Department
will host its annual Bicycle
Rodeo Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m. in the Lowe’s parking lot, located
off Ga. 92 and Molly Lane.
This event is for children ages 6-
14. Participants will compete for
prizes, have their helmet inspected
and learn about safety.
