Vice Commodore’s Report
The House Committee has been busy trying to finish up all our projects. Don Dusette will be
putting the finishing touches on the dock renovation. His committee has been waiting for the
PCYF classes to finish so the rubber dock edging can be installed. Our GM Brenda Dickmann is
looking forward to having the security and computer servers moved to the communications room.
She will finally have the room she needs to conduct business meetings in her office. Once the
equipment is removed there will be some redecorating needed.
The final menus were approved thanks to all the hard work done by Quartermaster Graham Wilson and Brenda. The
committee will be selecting new covers for the menus. Be sure to notice the new wine lists available downstairs. Many
other projects are in various stages of completion and if you have any time please come join us for a House Committee
Meeting and see all the agenda items we have addressed. We meet on the 2 nd Thursday of each month at 5:00 P.M.
Volunteers are needed!
The Membership Committee would like to thank all the PCYC members who have been handing out invitation cards to
Friday Night Icebreakers. We will be including some additional cards in your monthly statements in case you need
some more. We will be conducting two Open Houses in September, so please tell your neighbors and friends to stop by
and take a look at all we have to offer. The committee will be finalizing some plans to take more advantage of our
waterside location. We hope to add additional value to a PCYC membership. We are looking forward to showcasing our
plans in the months to come.
Save October 11th for Ladies Who Do Lunch!
Traditionally, the October Ladies Luncheon is a cancer awareness fundraiser. We take time to
remember those we’ve lost and celebrate our friends who fight the battle. This year the luncheon
will be held on Thursday, October 11 th in the main dining room. Come early to taste-test wines,
olive oils, and other munchies that you will be able purchase.
We are pleased to announce that the proceeds from this year’s luncheon will be donated to
PleaseHearUs.org. This local organization provides both financial assistance and support for
cancer patients in Ventura County. They help cancer patients meet the challenging needs of
treatments; costs can be overwhelming. Perhaps you have visited their “Cancer Care Thrift Center” at 3761 W Hemlock
Street – just 5 minutes from the club. Your donations of nearly-new items are always appreciated. You can read more
about this charity online at www.PleaseHearUs.org.
It’s not too early to put together a table of friends for this most important luncheon. We’d love to put together a sell-out
crowd so make your plans today to join us. You can make your reservations at the front desk or call 985-PCYC.
Thanks for your support,
