Come Cruise With Us!
Labor Day Cruise: Our Labor Day Cruise, starting August 30 – September 3, around Santa
Cruz Island will happen after I submit this article, so you will have to “tune-in” next month to
find out how much fun we had. In the meantime, let me fill you in on our July Catalina Cruise.
Follow-up on Catalina Cruise: We had a great turnout, with the following boats joining us at
either Cat Harbor or Avalon or both. Our PCYC Cruisers: Jim and Marge Curley’s on
GaelForce II, Bob Fortner and Kathy Raduenz on Piece of Mine -with their crew of Al and
Karen Lorenzen , Jim and Dee Canaday on Lady D, Don Johnson and Dixie Redden on Margaritaville, Jim Jones
and family on Carrie Jay II, Jim Milles and friends on Bad Habit, Jack Schuler and Rose Helms with family on
Esmeralda, Graham and June Wilson on Bella Vita, Henry and Shirley Goldman with family on Lady Sadie II, Rich
and Candace Reynolds on Serenity, and of course the Citeras with guests Tom and Alice Kearney on Libertad. If I
missed anyone, my apologies! Our first stop was Cat Harbor, and that night, we kicked off the cruise with a Cocktail
party aboard the Citera’s Libertad, followed by a group dinner at Doug’s Harbor Reef Restaurant. The next night we
really partied hearty (some of us A LOT MORE than others) with a “Cheese Burgers in Paradise” aboard the
Curley’s boat, GaelForce II. Marge and Jim Curley went all out by decorating the boat with theme Palm Trees,
followed by delicious cheeseburgers from Chef Marge. On Sunday, most of us moved on to Avalon while a few
stayed behind in Cat Harbor. The Canadays had a misfortune, in that their prop picked some “stealth” poly rope and
had to get towed in to Avalon. Thankfully, the Curleys came up behind and stayed with them until the Tow Boat
came (some 4 hours later). Our hats are off to Jim and Marge for being the buddy boat for Lady D! Sunday night we
celebrated getting into Avalon aboard the Fortner/Raduenz boat, Piece of Mine. By Monday, the Canadays had
recovered from their ordeal well enough to host dinner for everyone with a “Taco Bar” aboard the Lady D. The next
night we all gathered aboard the Goldman’s boat, Lady Sadie II, where we had another fantastic time. Wednesday
was our annual Miniature Golf Tournament, followed by lunch at Mi Casita. Thursday we all met for cocktails at the
Descanso Beach Bar and Grill, and followed by another group dinner at Antonio’s. By Friday, many of us were
“partied out” and departed for homeport. A few of us lingered on, enjoying the perfect weather in Avalon.
“Back to Cat Cruise”: Our next adventure will be our “Back to Catalina” Cruise, on Sept 28 through Oct 7.
The signup sheet should be posted the first week in September, so look for it. If you have any questions or need
more information, please text or call me at 661-373-6887, or email kym@citera.org .
Looking forward to cruising with you…
