downstream (to <strong>the</strong> right) <strong>the</strong>se beds become sandier and<br />

better sorted, suggest<strong>in</strong>g this lower unit was deposited <strong>in</strong><br />

a lake-marg<strong>in</strong>al sett<strong>in</strong>g. This lower part is capped by about<br />

30 cm of coarse-gra<strong>in</strong>ed gravel with abundant th<strong>in</strong> oncoid<br />

carbonate coats, and this <strong>in</strong> turn is overla<strong>in</strong> by <strong>the</strong> upper<br />

part, about 2 m of <strong>in</strong>terbedded, f<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g-upward packets of<br />

angular to subangular cobble gravel and coarse-gra<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

m. c. reheis and d. m. miller<br />

to medium-gra<strong>in</strong>ed sand capped by a buried soil. Beds <strong>in</strong><br />

this upper part dip 10° and f<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong> a downslope direction,<br />

and are <strong>in</strong>terpreted as delta foresets. The upper unit above<br />

<strong>the</strong> buried soil is overall sandier and better sorted and<br />

bedded than <strong>the</strong> lower unit, but still conta<strong>in</strong>s channel-fill<br />

gravels.<br />
