Ms. Moldagasimova conveyed the greetings from Salidat Kairbekova, Minister of Public Health<br />

of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “Presi<strong>de</strong>nt of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in<br />

his address to the people of Kazakhstan “Socio-economic mo<strong>de</strong>rnization – the main vector of<br />

<strong>de</strong>velopment of Kazakhstan” outlined further <strong>de</strong>velopment of Public Health in the Republic of<br />

Kazakhstan, nothing that an important way to increase the level of human <strong>de</strong>velopment is to increase<br />

the availability and quality of medical services, promote healthy lifestyles.<br />

Due to the consistent implementation of state health programs and the annual increase in<br />

funding the healthcare industry of Kazakhstan significantly increased the pace of <strong>de</strong>velopment.<br />

The annual exhibition project “<strong>KIHE</strong>” is an important platform for showcasing the latest<br />

advances in medical science and healthcare, which is traditionally atten<strong>de</strong>d by world lea<strong>de</strong>rs and<br />

national medical and pharmaceutical industry, the <strong>de</strong>velopers of new high technologies for the<br />

diagnosis and treatment of diseases.<br />

In the situation of continuous scientific and technological progress it is important to keep<br />

improving professional skills and acquiring new knowledge”.<br />

The official opening ceremony was also atten<strong>de</strong>d by representatives of various public health<br />

bodies and diplomatic missions of the exhibiting countries.<br />

“<strong>KIHE</strong> <strong>2012</strong> is the best format for perception of innovations because medical novelties and<br />

know-how now and then get out of date before they are presented in scientific publications. The<br />

exhibitions contribute to establishment of direct contacts between consumers and manufacturers of<br />

medical equipment and medications. Time and again companies test their innovations together with<br />

potential end customers directly at the exhibition stands, which results in commercial manufacturing<br />

of products improved on the spot,” Mr. Lokshin conclu<strong>de</strong>d.<br />

<strong>KIHE</strong> <strong>2012</strong> is the most representative international healthcare exhibition in Kazakhstan and<br />

Central Asia, both in terms of the number of exhibitors and their composition. A wi<strong>de</strong> range of<br />

medical care products and services provi<strong>de</strong>d by manufacturers, <strong>de</strong>alers and distributors of<br />

medications and healthcare equipment for ophthalmology, endoscopic examination, physical<br />

medicine, rehabilitation, SPA treatment, etc. was exhibited at <strong>KIHE</strong> <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

Exhibition statistics: <strong>KIHE</strong> <strong>2012</strong> featured more than 209 companies from 22 countries<br />

presenting over 300 tra<strong>de</strong>marks. The representation was astounding since exhibitors inclu<strong>de</strong>d<br />

companies from Austria, Bangla<strong>de</strong>sh, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany,<br />

India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Korea,<br />

Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan. The total exhibition area was 7450 m². A total of<br />

5550 visitors were registered to inclu<strong>de</strong> specialists of the medical industry and allied fields from all<br />

regions of Kazakhstan, the CIS and foreign countries.<br />

Manufacturers and distributors of medical equipment featured prominently at the exhibition.<br />

For example, the German National Stand inclu<strong>de</strong>d 25 companies which mainly presented medical<br />

equipment. Local firms presented medicines, disinfectants and much more – apart from medical<br />

equipment. Traditionally, Kazakhstan companies accounted for almost half of the exhibition – 40% of<br />

all exhibitors. Other wi<strong>de</strong>ly presented companies inclu<strong>de</strong>d Germany (12%), Russia (20%), China<br />

(7%), Malaysia (3%) and Turkey (3%).<br />

The leading domestic and foreign companies exhibited their innovative products, technologies<br />

and know-how enjoying high <strong>de</strong>mand from mo<strong>de</strong>rn healthcare industry.<br />

The exhibition offered a saturated business programme: 20 workshops and presentations<br />

were for the first time held concurrently on two sites in different pavilions. Representatives of<br />

exhibiting companies presented cutting-edge treatment and diagnostic technologies and methods.<br />

It is worth noting that it was for the first time that <strong>KIHE</strong> <strong>2012</strong> featured a roundtable of the<br />

Almaty State Institute of Advanced Medical Education <strong>de</strong>voted to exploring potentialities and<br />

prospects of university hospitals.<br />

Leading domestic and international companies will showcase the latest <strong>de</strong>velopments, knowhow<br />

and technologies nee<strong>de</strong>d by the mo<strong>de</strong>rn healthcare industry.
