8 Supplementary <strong>symbols</strong> Additional information about a weld can be provided by supplementary <strong>symbols</strong> used in conjunction with those welds already described. In most cases, the same symbol is used in the ISO and AWS standards. In other cases, only one of the standards uses a symbol for a particular requirement. A comparison of <strong>symbols</strong> used in the ISO and AWS standards is shown in Fig. 8.1.
