10K in 10 Days DECA Project Update<br />
The 10K in 10 Days DECA fundraising project wrapped up on<br />
December 9, 2011 with great success. The DECA project team of<br />
Sendy Ha, Jim Feng, and Alyssa Wilson were able to coordinate,<br />
organize, and motivate an entire school community effort to<br />
raise funds for Project Mercy. This turned out to be huge learning<br />
experience for the DECA Chapter as a whole and one which we<br />
hope to duplicate for many years to come.<br />
With their efforts the <strong>Eaglecrest</strong> community including STULE,<br />
Link Crew, FBLA, DECA, NEHS, National Honor Society,<br />
Japanese Club, Key Club, just to name a few, were able to raise<br />
over $3,700.00 in just 10 Days. A special shout out to Ms. Rojas’s<br />
2B class who raised over $120.00 in the miracle minute effort.<br />
These accomplishments will also be recognized at the winter pep<br />
assembly where a few brave teachers volunteered to be “pied in<br />
the eye” if enough funds were raised. Bring on the pies!<br />
With a dedicated effort like this just think what we could do<br />
with the national deficit. Congratulations to Jim, Sendy, Alyssa,<br />
and the entire <strong>Eaglecrest</strong> community. We truly demonstrated a<br />
commitment to excellence.<br />
Japanese Culture Festival<br />
Please join the Japanese National Honor Society at EHS<br />
for our 4 th annual Japanese Culture Festival on:<br />
March 15, 2012<br />

Cafeteria<br />
Tickets are 4 for $1, and then can be used to<br />
purchase activities and food during the event.<br />
This event is for all ages!<br />
Please come and enjoy origami, calligraphy, kimono portraits,<br />
traditional Japanese foods, festival games, and more!<br />
All proceeds will benefit Project Cure,<br />
a non-profit organization that provides<br />
medical supplies and services to<br />

EHS Track & Field Team to Raise<br />
Funds for the<br />
American Lung Association<br />
Fight for Air Climbs are unique fundraising events<br />
for the American Lung Association. They usually<br />
happen in prominent skyscrapers, stadiums or<br />
arenas and involve climbing multiple steps. Sometimes<br />
called a "vertical road race", teams and individual<br />
participants can use the event as a fitness<br />
target, as a race, with you challenging yourself or<br />
you racing against other people, or as a great way<br />
to be active and meet new friends. American Lung<br />
Association Climbs are also a wonderful way to<br />
support someone who has lung disease or as a memorial to someone<br />
who has passed away.<br />
The EHS Track & Field team will be signing up for the following<br />
Climb: 2012 Fight For Air Climb @ the Republic Plaza, February 26,<br />
2012.<br />
Please consider sponsoring an EHS Track & Field athlete for their<br />
climb, you can make a flat donation or support by donating an<br />

teameaglecrest for monetary donations. For donating $10 or more,<br />

AP Exams - Online Registration<br />
<strong>Eaglecrest</strong> students can now register for AP exams online.<br />
Registration will be open until 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 21.<br />
Each exam costs $87. To register for an exam(s) students will need<br />
to do the following:<br />
• Go to the <strong>Eaglecrest</strong> website (home page).<br />
• Under the “Quick Links” on the left side, click on “Academics”<br />
and then the “AP Exam Registration” link.<br />
• Follow the directions on the registration site.<br />
• Print 2 copies of the confirmation page.<br />
• Print and sign the 2012 AP Exam Discipline Contract.<br />
• Bring one copy of the confirmation page and the signed<br />
discipline contract to the College & Career Center.<br />
•<br />
Full payment MUST be received before March 21. Credit<br />
cards, checks and cash are accepted. Make checks payable<br />
to <strong>Eaglecrest</strong> High <strong>School</strong>. Exams will not be ordered until<br />
full payment has been received, unless prior arrangements have<br />
been approved by Assistant Principal Jim Roome.<br />
Note that there are NO REFUNDS for a cancellation after April<br />
27. Cancellations between March 2 and April 27 are subject to a<br />

King Sooper’s Cards are an ongoing fundraiser for <strong>Eaglecrest</strong>. EHS PTO receives 5% of<br />
everything you put on the reloadable gift cards. Cards cost $5 and are preloaded with $5.<br />
All you have to do is load the card with any amount you wish and then use the card to pay<br />

We hope your second semester<br />
is off to a great start! Remember,<br />
registration is in February, so<br />
be thinking about what classes<br />
you want to take next year.<br />
During your sophomore year<br />
you should take some time to<br />
look at the Career section on<br />
Naviance. If you are interested<br />
in certain jobs, you can look<br />
them up and find out how<br />
much they pay, how much<br />
schooling is needed, etc. You<br />
can also take a Career Interest<br />
Profiler that helps match you<br />
with career ideas after you take<br />
the quiz. Stop by the College &<br />
Career Center for help.<br />
Make sure to talk with<br />
your teachers about which<br />
classes you should take your<br />
sophomore year. This is the<br />
time to consider your future<br />
goals after high school and<br />
make sure the classes you take<br />
next will help you reach those<br />
goals—and keep you on track<br />

Spring Athletic Registration<br />
The Athletic Office will be taking spring sports registration packets from February 13 through<br />
February 22, 2012. All athletic check-in forms are now available online. To access the forms necessary<br />
for your son or daughter to participate in athletics, please go to our website (www.ehsraptors.org)<br />
and under the “Athletics” link, at the bottom of the page, click on BOTH the “Athletics forms” AND<br />
“Study Hall Agreement”. Print them off and fill in the required information. These forms will only<br />
need to be filled out ONCE a year. Only the $90 athletic fee will be required to reactivate an athlete<br />
for a new season.<br />
In order to participate on the first day of spring practice, February 27, the athlete must have all of<br />
their paper work and their $90 athletic fee turned in by February 22, 2012. If packets are not turned<br />
in by 3:30pm that day, the student will not be allowed to practice until 24 hours after the date of the<br />
first practice. The Athletic Office will accept packets before school, during lunch, and from 3-3:30pm<br />
ONLY. Thank you!<br />

Little Girls Can Be Mean<br />
Dr. Michelle Anthony, expert in developmental psychology and author of “Little<br />
Girls Can Be Mean”, provides the tools to enable your child to become stronger,<br />
happier and better able to enjoy friendships. Whether your child is just starting grade school, or already<br />
on their way to high school, you’ll learn valuable information to help them navigate through social issues.<br />
This is an important topic for parents of both boys and girls! Dr. Anthony will discuss how adults<br />
can use a four-step process to identify and deal with tough situations. She will provide empowering<br />
strategies for parents to communicate and connect with children to help them build self-esteem and<br />
resilience.<br />
