modeling methodologies, use <strong>of</strong> Bayesian concepts in sample<br />
survey desIgn and analysis, microcomputer implementation<br />
<strong>of</strong> forest projectIOn and planning systems, and<br />
statistical computation programming<br />

Teaching responsibilities are Soil-SIte Relations, Application<br />
<strong>of</strong> Silviculture in North American <strong>Forest</strong> Types, and Urban<br />
<strong>Forest</strong> Management Research responsIbilities include<br />
conducting research in the fields <strong>of</strong> tree physiology,<br />
silviculture, and forest soils. Current research projects include<br />
mycorrhizal relationships <strong>of</strong> Lake Sta tes conifers and<br />
hardwoods, photosynthesIs and respiratIon <strong>of</strong> hardwood<br />
seedlings and Impact <strong>of</strong> acid depositIon on root structure<br />
and functIon.<br />
Paul Ellefson Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />
Teaches courses in Natural Resource Policy and Administration.<br />
Serves as chair <strong>of</strong> the SocIety <strong>of</strong> American <strong>Forest</strong>er's<br />
national Committee on <strong>Forest</strong> Policy and will Chair the<br />
Society's National Convention Program CommIttee In<br />
1987-the yea r in which the SAF NatIOnal Convention will<br />
be held in Minneapolis. In Fall <strong>1986</strong>, traveled for three<br />
weeks in Ireland, Scotland and England studying forestry.<br />
Major research activities past year have focused on evaluation<br />
<strong>of</strong> state forest practice laws and assessment <strong>of</strong><br />
statewide forest planning activities. Currently addressing<br />
issues regarding strategic directions for forest economics<br />
and policy research .<br />
David French Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />
Lectures on three subjects in forest pathology and is involve<br />
d in the Urban <strong>Forest</strong>ry course. Research Involves<br />
vascular wilts (Oak Wilt and Dutch Elm Disease). aspen<br />
cankers, dwarf mistletoe <strong>of</strong> spruce and jack pine, chestnut<br />
blight and other tree diseases.<br />
