impressive strides <strong>in</strong> coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> compet<strong>in</strong>g needs <strong>of</strong> protect<strong>in</strong>g<br />

its borders and welcom<strong>in</strong>g<br />

foreign visitors to its homeland.<br />

A commitment to foster<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational exchanges and<br />

ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g an open society is a<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g hallmark <strong>of</strong> American<br />

values.<br />

Recent changes <strong>in</strong>clude<br />

expedited appo<strong>in</strong>tments for<br />

student and bus<strong>in</strong>ess visa<br />

applications, better technology<br />

on biometric documents, and<br />

an <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong><br />

immigration <strong>of</strong>ficials to assist visa applicants. Beyond<br />

that, <strong>the</strong> United <strong>State</strong>s cont<strong>in</strong>ues to work on even<br />

more <strong>in</strong>itiatives to make <strong>in</strong>ternational travel faster and<br />

safer.<br />
