EMPLOYMENT AND RESEARCH
SICS, Swedish Institute of Computer Science (January 1998 - Present) Computer and Network Laboratory,
research staff.
2003-Present:
Work on sensor networks and cross layer issues, in particular for congestion control.
2000-2002:
Extended the work on overload protection and QoS for web servers, started at IBM Watson in several aspects:
Dealing with persistent connections that present a challenging problem for web server admission
control, making the architecture adaptive to the current workload, showing how the mechanisms can be used
in a collaborative way, using scheduling to provide QoS.
1998-1999:
Implemented resource reservation and communication protocols in Nemesis, an experimental soft real-time
operating system. Conducted experiments to show how TCP/IP can utilize Nemesis’ resource reservation
capabilities to provide a deterministic communication service.

Freie Universität Berlin, (Sept. 2002 - July 2003) Computer Systems & Telematics group, post-doctorant.
Worked on various items including, mobile web service performance, mobile entertainment and sensor networks.
service.
IBM TJ Watson Research Center (March 2000 - July 2000) internship.
Worked on overload protection and QoS for web servers. Designed and implemented kernel-based mechanisms
to provide overload protection and QoS. Conducted experiments to show the improved efficiency and
scalability compared to mechanisms implemented in user space.
SISU, Swedish Institute for Systems Development (January 1997- December 1997) research staff.
Implemented an intelligent mail management and indexing system.
GMD, German National Research Center for Information Technology (September 1997) guest researcher.
Demonstrated the project developed at SISU.
University of Stuttgart, division of formal concepts (summer term 1993) Teaching Assistant.
Paulinenpflege Winnenden, Germany (1989-1990) civil service.
Caring and nursing persons with multiple disabilities.
