01 COMPANY PROFILE AND OPERATIONS Rio Tinto (51 percent) and Kaiser Aluminum (49 percent) jointly own Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited (AAM), with operational management undertaken by Rio Tinto Aluminium, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto. Located at Holyhead in North Wales, AAM has been in operation since 1971, producing aluminium in differing forms for extruding, rolling and remelting. AAM is one of the largest suppliers of aluminium metal in the United Kingdom British Mainland and sells its products throughout the UK and Europe. Consumed in the process was 280,000 tonnes of alumina and 55,000 tonnes of calcined coke. • AAM employs 562 full time permanent employees. • AAM consumes 255MW of power on a continuous basis, approximately 12 percent of the power consumed in Wales. • Aluminium is easily and endlessly recyclable by remelting without changing its inherent properties, with a 95 percent energy saving. • AAM owns a 200-acre coastal park that boasts breathtaking scenic views and provides a natural shelter for many varieties of flora and fauna.
