Coat from Nomex ® Comfort
ALWIT was the first company in Germany and probably in Europe which started the
production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) made of Nomex ® already in 1968.
Since then Nomex ® changed a lot but ALWIT has always been up to date, and is therefore
privileged to advise our customers on a high level of knowledge.
It is a matter of course that ALWIT signed the contract as partner of Nomex ® Quality
Programme (NQP) offered by Du Pont in order to manufacture PPE of Nomex ® on a high
level under control and approval by Du Pont.
Properties of PPE made from Nomex ® Comfort
Inherently flame retardant (no impregnation needed)
 Insulating
 Resistant against chemicals
 Permanently antistatic (no impregnation needed)
 Comfortable *
 Easy care
 Economical
* Comfort can be even improved by a permanently hydrophilic finishing.
Design
Coats are manufactured according to usual German size table, and are available in all
sizes, including tall or short sizes.
Design is choosen by the classic lab – coat as described in DIN 61505 Form A, that has a
turn-down-collar, three patch pockets, back vent, and is closed by concealed buttoning.
Variations e.g. number of pockets, closure system etc. may be verified upon request of the
customer as far as these deviations are still covered by the certification according to EN
ISO 11612 or the desired quantity allows a new type approval procedure under
economical aspects.
Selection
Here descripted coats intend to protect first of all against convective heat (flames), but
also against radiant heat.
The correct selection of PPE shall be based on exact risk assessment done by the user.
Carrying out the risk assessment not only protective properties should be taken under
consideration but also ergonomic features.
The technical report for selection, use, care and maintenance, CEN/TR 14560, may offer
further assistance.
Detailed information for selection, use, care and maintenance are given in info 0-150.
