New, natural gas -operated molding machine offers
MORE CAPACITY - LESS EMISSIONS
The manufacturing capacity of Molok grew
while emissions reduced signifi cantly when
the new rotation-molding machine was introduced.
The only emission that the new natural
gas-operated molding machine produces is
carbon dioxide.
The addition of the new molding machine
doubles Molok Ltd’s manufacturing capacity.
The machine is used for manufacturing the
main part of the Deep Collection containers,
the well bodies.
“Faster service to customers”
- For customers, the increased capacity means
faster and more fl exible service. With two operating
molding machines, we can now react
faster to changes in the markets, easily adjusting
our manufacturing capacity when necessary,
says the CEO of Molok, Mr. Jukka Blom.
- Another important character of the new
molding machine is its eco friendliness. The
natural gas -operated molding machine makes
Molok’s ecological footprint smaller than before.
This emphasizes Molok’s position as an
environmentally safe product, Blom adds.
The Italian-made molding machine, Polinivil,
is the biggest of its type in Finland. In the new
machine, the mold is rotated inside of a stationary
oven. In the older machine, the entire oven
rotates. With two machine option, the working
shifts of the ovens and crews can be adjusted
and tailored to fi t the demand.
“Melodies are born during night shifts”
In addition to Molding master Harri Helin, there
is also an American born musician Wiley Cousins
operating the new machine.
Wiley has a history as a professional musician
for two decades in Texas, USA. During the
week, he usually had 5 to 6 gigs, all in different
cities. In a large country such as the USA, this
could mean anywhere from 4 to 14 hour drives,
just to play one gig.
The journey from a professional musician in
Texas, to a father in Tampere, to working a shift
at Molok’s molding machine is huge, yet Wiley
seems more than happy with his life today.
- Now is a good time for a break in performing,
as the career of a musician and family are
impossible to combine. First things fi rst (as the
old saying goes), and the number one priority

for me these days is my family.
The well bodies are made in three separate 8
hour shifts per day. Wiley Cousins likes his job,
as he often gets ideas for music during working
shift.
- I write my own music, and during the quiet
hours of night shifts, the rhythm of the molding
machine often gives birth to melodies and
songs, Wiley says.
