CHART 2 shows <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> cases prosecuted by ECU during FY 2009. The chart<br />
distinguishes between <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> cases where prosecution was initiated during FY 2009<br />
and <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> cases concluded during FY 2009. In prosecuting criminal cases, it is not<br />
uncommon for charges in a case to be filed during one fiscal year and concluded during a<br />
subsequent fiscal year. Charges may also be formally filed in a different fiscal year than<br />
when <strong>the</strong> investigation was opened by ECU.<br />
