Unit 1<br />

Concepts, History and modern perspectives <strong>of</strong> psychology, types <strong>of</strong> psychological pr<strong>of</strong>essionals. The<br />

science and research methods, pr<strong>of</strong>essional and ethical issues <strong>in</strong> psychology<br />

Unit II<br />

Nerves and Neurons: Build<strong>in</strong>g the network, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system,<br />

Human bra<strong>in</strong> structure and function; sensory systems endocr<strong>in</strong>e system<br />

Unit III<br />

Consciousness, Altered states <strong>of</strong> consciousness, attention and awareness, sensation and perception,<br />

problems <strong>in</strong> Attention and perception, assessment <strong>of</strong> attention and perception.<br />

Unit IV<br />

Learn<strong>in</strong>g process, Types <strong>of</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g, models <strong>of</strong> memory, stages <strong>of</strong> memory, encod<strong>in</strong>g, retention and<br />

retrieval, forgett<strong>in</strong>g, bra<strong>in</strong> and memory, problem <strong>in</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g and memory.<br />

Unit V<br />

Th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, decision mak<strong>in</strong>g and problem solv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>telligence and language, motivation: Types <strong>of</strong><br />

approaches Emotion, stress and cop<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Unit VI<br />

Understand<strong>in</strong>g personality, type and Trait, theories <strong>of</strong> personality, psychoanalytic model,<br />

behavioristic model social cognitive model, Humanistic model, and Biological model assessment <strong>of</strong><br />

personality.<br />
