The following pages are filled with the names of people who are making 

change possible in our community by generously supporting United Way 

of Winnipeg. 

Together, these Winnipeggers have ensured United Way’s network of 

essential programs and services will continue to create hope, stability 

and opportunity throughout 2010. 

From longtime loyal donors who’ve made United Way the foundation 

of their annual charitable giving, to first-time donors and everyone who 

dug deep in response to the news that United Way was facing a shortfall 

for the first time in decades, Winnipeggers demonstrated extraordinary 

generosity in 2009. 

As a result, kids in Winnipeg are safe from the threat of crime, drugs and 

life on the streets; families are achieving greater financial stability and 

regaining hope for the future; and neighbours are connecting with one 

another to address common issues like safety, violence and isolation. 

Thank you to each and every Winnipegger who is helping build a safer, 

stronger, healthier community for all of us through United Way.

Without Leaders, 

there would be no way. 

Leadership has always played an important role at United Way, just as it 

does in all aspects of life. Leaders pave the way for lasting change and 

better lives by setting a tremendous example and inspiring others to action. 

Last year in particular, during one of the most challenging United Way 

campaigns ever, leadership was essential. And true to form, leaders from 

throughout Winnipeg took up the call precisely when they were needed most. 

During the 2009 campaign, 2,457 Winnipeggers became United Way 

Leadership donors, surpassing the 2008 record by more than 100. 

In total, these Leaders contributed over $7 million or almost 40% of 

United Way’s annual campaign achievement. 

Thank you Leaders for ensuring our community remains stable today 

and can emerge even stronger tomorrow.
