From the NEC Corner… By Jim & Margaret Peterson It’s almost that time again! The NEC convention is quickly approaching! The date for the 2012 convention is the weekend of March 23- 25 th and will again be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Berlin, CT. Details regarding registration and a complete listing of the scheduled speakers can be obtained by accessing the NEC website @ http://convention.northeastcouncil.org/ Please note the new web address for the NEC convention! Each workshop will be 50 minutes in length and have a ten minute time period for questions and answers. In addition, this year, there wi ll be a mini auction of the speaker’s own fish that were spoken about during the presentation. The list of speakers includes some of the most well-known names in the aquarium hobby. Among them are: Rhonda Wilson, former president of the American Livebearers Association and author of the book, A Guide to the Planted Aquarium, Klaus Steinhaus, speaking about Central and South American Cichlids, Scott Fellman, former president of the Marine Aquarium Society of Los Angeles county, who will be offering a marine presentation, Spencer Jack, who owns a tropical fish wholesale business and was president of the Canadian Cichlid Association in 2000, Hans Georg-Evers, who has 50 tanks from 2 to 200 gallons in size, filled with primarily Africans and West African Cichlids. Also speaking are Pat Donston, owner and operator of Absolutely Fish in New Jersey, an MAC certified facility and retailer of the year from 2002-2004. Joining Pat is Bob Lewis, vice president of the International Fancy Guppy Association (IFGA) and a master guppy breeder. Ken Normandin will be speaking about killifish, particularly the rivulus species, having at least 300 tanks set up in his own home. Last but by no means least, is Tony Terciera, a well-known hobbyist and master photographer, having served as editor and photo chairman of the Journal of the American Killie Association (AKA).
