distribution.<br />
Previously, Mr. Iacovelli had spent 16 years<br />
with Continental Insurance Company in a<br />
variety of national marketing and sales<br />
positions. Key responsibilities included head<br />
of marketing for the National Accounts<br />
Division and Vice President of Marketing for<br />
the Domestic P&C operation departments.<br />
This position included product development,<br />
market research, strategic market planning<br />
and specialty markets.<br />
Mr. Iacovelli is a graduate of Seton Hall<br />
University and has done graduate work at<br />
St. Johns School of Risk Management<br />
(formally the College of Insurance). He is<br />
currently on the Board of Directors of the<br />
Philadelphia Insurance Society. He has also<br />
served on other boards including a venture<br />
capital fund focused on insurance<br />
distribution.<br />
He is married, has three children and lives in<br />
Medford Lakes, New Jersey.<br />
Cecelia Kempler<br />
Cecelia (“Sue”) Kempler devoted her entire<br />
25 year legal career at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene<br />
& MacRae to serving the insurance industry.<br />
She represented insurers, reinsurers, brokers<br />
and agents in property/casualty and life<br />
insurance matters. Ms. Kempler’s<br />
reinsurance experience includes<br />
interpretations of reinsurance agreements<br />
in coverage disputes, insurance and<br />
reinsurance regulations and complex<br />
reinsurance transactions. During her legal<br />
career, she developed knowledge of the<br />
business of insurance and reinsurance, in<br />
addition to her insurance legal expertise.<br />
Ms. Kempler has extensive experience in<br />
insurer impairments and insolvencies<br />
involving property/casualty and life insurers.<br />
Most of her matters involved creditors of<br />
such companies, although she did also<br />
represent the New York Liquidation Bureau.<br />
Representations included General American<br />
Mutual Holding Company in pursuing<br />
voluntary supervision and later<br />
rehabilitation to negotiate and complete the<br />
sale of General American Life Insurance<br />
Company to MetLife; American Express and<br />
Shearson Lehman in connection with<br />
rehabilitation proceedings involving First<br />
Capital Life Insurance Company; Clarendon<br />
Insurance Company in its dispute with the<br />
receiver of Transit Casualty Company, the<br />
New York Liquidation Bureau in connection<br />
with the rehabilitations of Nassau Insurance<br />
Company and Union Indemnity Insurance<br />
Company, and many others.<br />
Ms. Kempler also has considerable<br />
experience representing life insurers in<br />
market conduct/sales practice matters.<br />
She served as Chair of LeBoeuf’s Life<br />
Insurance Practice from 1997 through 2003<br />
and Co-Chair of the Global Insurance Practice<br />
from 2001 through 2003, when she retired<br />
from the practice at LeBoeuf.<br />
Ms. Kempler is admitted to practice before<br />
the United States Supreme Court; the U.S.C.A.<br />
(2d Cir.); U.S.D.C. (SDNY and EDNY); New York<br />
State Court of Appeals; and New York State<br />
Supreme Court (1st Dept.).<br />
In 2004, Ms. Kempler formed Cecelia Kempler<br />
Consulting, Inc. to advise insurers and law<br />
firms on legal risk management. She has<br />
spoken and published articles on this issue.<br />
Currently, she serves on the Board and Audit<br />
Committee of Aegon US.<br />
Ms. Kempler resides in St. Michaels, Md. and<br />
Palm Beach, Fla. She enjoys golf and boating.<br />
Raymond J. Lester<br />
Raymond Lester is Vice President and<br />
Associate General Counsel of Trustmark<br />
Insurance Company in Lake Forest, Illinois.<br />
Mr. Lester has twenty years of insurance and<br />
reinsurance experience, including<br />
acquisitions, regulatory matters, reinsurance<br />
facilities, litigation management, reinsurance<br />
settlements and commutations.<br />
Mr. Lester earned a Bachelor of Science<br />
Degree in Finance (Dean’s List) from the<br />
College of Commerce at the University of<br />
Illinois, Urbana where he studied insurance<br />
under the tutelage of Dean Emerson<br />
Cammack. While attending the University of<br />
Illinois, Mr. Lester became a licensed Illinois<br />
Insurance Broker. He attended John Marshall<br />
Law School in Chicago and graduated with<br />
High Distinction in 1984. He is also a Fellow<br />
of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and<br />
a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He has<br />
completed the Executive Development<br />
Program of the Kellogg School of<br />
Management at Northwestern University in<br />
Evanston, Illinois.<br />
