meaning. By example, by transmitting information, by teaching skills,<br />
he has communicated his vision and his practice not only to the<br />
students fortunate enough to study with him in the <strong>Cantors</strong> Institute-<br />
Seminary College of Jewish Music, but to the thousands of congregants<br />
whom they, in turn, have taught. Jewish music for generations<br />
to come has been enriched by the contributions of Max<br />
Wohlberg, just as all of us - his colleagues, his students, his friends -<br />
have been enriched by the privilege of knowing him, and sharing in his<br />
friendship.<br />
In paying tribute to him, we acknowledge our profound debt to a<br />
man whose commitment to Jewish music derives from profound<br />
religious sources and drives. We thereby affirm our determination to<br />
build further in the way he has mapped out in his creativity.<br />
