1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Tall, magnificent towers have traditionally served as high-profile showpieces at amusement
parks intending to attract and intrigue people from miles away.
MAURER designed this Action Tower completely different from normal Free Fall Towers.
Our Power Tower offers the following highlights:
► Six different ride programs move the gondola
We have created six different ride programs for different types of guests, families and
teenagers etc. For example, one program features Jo Jo or Bungee effects. Another program
provides a very fast way up, then, the gondola suddenly stops and drops by several meters at
the same time (this can be compared with an airplane going through an air pocket), before the
gondola goes up. Still another program creates an airtime effect, i.e. the gondola is lifted to the
top extremely fast, does not stop up there, but drops again immediately, so that the rider lifts off
from the seat and his shoulders are held down by the shoulder restraints for several seconds.
►The Gondola can stop at each height level (useful for exit and entrance as well).
All this is possible due to the drive technology of the gondola. 4 cable winches are driven by 2
fast-moving special engines. The cables coil and uncoil very quickly and are connected to the
gondola.
► Tower gondola
The gondola is very large. Every movement of the gondola carried out on the Power Tower can
be seen from a great distance. At night, the illuminated gondola is a great attraction. So, it
represents quite an eye catcher, and is very helpful to the marketing activities.
The gondola can transport 32 people at the same time. So, the capacity (varying according to
the riding program) is up to 1,350 pph.

► Outriggers / Foundation
The Tower is supported by four outriggers, which have the advantages that the costs for the
foundations are very low. A normal ground requires a concrete slab covering the total surface,
which a thickness of approx. 20 cm. The customer does not need expensive foundations.
► Riders
Our aim is to attract as many visitors as possible, who really want to ride the Tower.
To achieve that goal, we have the following strategy in mind:
The Power Tower should not look too imposing to the crowd standing around it, as many guests
might be frightened of the Tower. This strategy helps people decide to go for it, enjoying an
eventful and attractive ride, which they previously might not have expected. Firstly, such an
experience makes them proud of themselves and secondly, they had great fun.
If the drop speed of the Tower is too aggressive, we know from our experience that with this
kind of Tower, more people stand in front of it, just watching it instead of riding.
Our customers have made an opinion poll and the result is:
In a typical family park 40% of visitors ride the MAURER Tower. This is a very high percentage
for this group of visitors and regarding the fact that it is a vertical ride. 90% of guests riding the
Tower are certain to enjoy this attraction again, when they come back to the park.
► Operational availability
Very important is the available operating time of the Tower. The machine time at our customers’
site is 97 – 100% for a 56m Tower.
► Security system
Not only does our Power Tower have the highest hourly capacity, but, it is equipped with one of
the best safety systems on the market, and is manufactured in accordance to the stringent
German DIN and European EN safety standards (DIN 4112 / EN 13814) and it is certified by the
German safety authority TÜV Sueddeutschland.
Starting from the development of the Tower, TÜV Sueddeutschland was involved. All processed
within the Tower are secured by redundancy. The control system consists of two independent
PLC systems that are monitored.
