Do You Know?
Th is week’s question: Some churches use white wine instead of red at Mass. Is there a rule that only red must be used?
Answer to last week’s question: What is the Jewish origin of the feast of Pentecost? Pentecost is a major feast in the Jewish
calendar. Following the feast of Passover there were 50 days until the feast of the wheat harvest (Lev. 23:15-22 and Deut.
16:9-12). Shavout, or the Feast of Weeks, came to be known also as Pentecost. It was celebrated at the Temple in Jerusalem
when the fi rst grains of the wheat harvest were off ered to the Lord.
