Fouty Staff Writer Applications to obtain an absentee ballot for the Feb. 22 school millage are available at all city halls. The applications can either be filled out in city hall, mailed in or faxed in. * Grosse Pointe Woods A resident has several options in obtaining an absentee ballot. A registered voter can visit the clerk's office in city hall at 20025 Mack Plaza during business hours to pick up and fill out an application. One can go on the city's Web site at www.gpwmi,us arid download a ballot. Or hit the State of Michigan's Web site; go to the Secretary of State's site, and download an official application. The Woods has a drop box for after-hours submission. When ballots are available, they will be mailed and must be returned to city hall prior to the closing of polls at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Non-registered voters have until Jan, 24 to regis ter in this election. There is a permanent absentee voter list in the city with 13,000 registered voters. Grosse Pointe Farms There is also a permanent absentee voter list in the Farms which has 8,300 voters. However, for those who may be out of town or for some other reason are unable to make it to the polls, absentee applications may be obtained in the clerk's office in city hall at 90 Kerby Road, during nor Absent Voter Ballot Application Application for absent voter ballot for: D The primary or special primary election to be held on , 20 . To be included on the permanent AV list, the clerk must have a request from the voter. It is a violation of Michigan election law for a person other than those listed in the instructions to return, offer to return, agree to return, or solicit to return your absent voter ballot application to the clerk. An assistant authorized by the cierk who receives absent voter ballot applications at a location other than the office of the clerk must have credentials signed by the clerk. Ask to see his or her credentials before entrusting your application with a person claiming to have the clerk's authorization to return your application. (b) Deliver the application personally to the office of the clerk, to the clerk, or to an authorized assistant of the clerk. (c) In either (a) or (b), a member of the immediate family of the voter including a father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild or a person residing in the voter's household may mail or deliver the application to the clerk for the applicant. (d) In the event sn applicant cannot return the application in any of the above methods, the applicant may select any registered elector to return the application. The person returning the application must sign and return the certificate at the bottom of the application. Grosse Pointe Park The Park, as well, has a permanent AV list, which can include those more than 60 years of age. Those on that list automatically are mailed an application which must be returned to the city hall before a ballot can be mailed out. Applications for an absentee ballot are available in city hall at 15115 E. Jefferson, during normal business hours. Completed applications must be returned prior to Friday, Feb. 18, to ensure mail delivery of the ballot before the Tuesday, Feb. 22, vote.
