PLEASE HELP ELAINE FELL
RAISE £1000 FOR CHARITY
Me and my best mate Debs together with Ruby her little terrier-cross are going to walk the entire
Cornwall Coast Path during September – all 273 miles of it! We are by no means the fittest of people
and it will be quite a challenge for us. To give us the incentive to keep on walking we want to raise as
much money as possible for our chosen charities:
The reason why…
THE STROKE ASSOCIATION, CANCER RESEARCH, and
THE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION
Over the past two years I have lost two very close friends - Jayne Stark, who you all know, died so
young and so very suddenly of a brain haemorrhage and
Nigel Grace, (Paul’s best friend), aged just 49 who lost his life in a very tragic accident. My dad has
also recently been very seriously ill with Cancer, but thankfully he is now in the early stages of
remission.
So in memory of my two dear friends, and to thank all the hospital staff who are helping my dad I have
decided to try and raise £1000 for the above charities.
A website has been set up on the ‘just giving’ site if people would like to help us achieve our goal. You
can choose which charity you would like to donate to or alternatively you can donate to ELAINE directly
if you are not able to go on line or would prefer not to.
(There is also a sponsorship form in the White Hart Pub, if you would prefer to sponsor me this way)
Thank you for taking the time to read this request.
UPDATE FROM ST TEATH KEEP FIT CLASS
Since my last article in the June 2012 edition, I am pleased to report that there
has been more interest in the Keep Fit Class and three new people have come
along, experienced the class and decided to join us. It would be fantastic if
even more of you were able to do the same. The classes vary from week to
week – starting with a warm up to increase the heart rate and stretch various
muscles, moving onto a mixture of leg strengthening work, stomachs, pilates
moves, circuit training, bone strengthening moves, upper body strengthening
and followed by a cool down of stretches and/or Tai Chi. There is something for everyone’s keep fit &
wellbeing.
Our situation remains that unless 11 people commit to the class by paying up front at the beginning of
each term, then the uncertainty of incoming finances means that we will not be able to continue in September.
Currently there are 13 of us who attend (5 of whom commit each term) but unfortunately either
due to illnesses, work commitments or other, we rarely seem to have the full quota at each session. We
would love to see the number of attendees increase in order to keep the class going.
On writing this, we have three more sessions left for this term in July, (we meet on Thursday mornings at
9.30am – 10.30am in the St. Teath village hall) however I appreciate that you won’t actually get to read
the article until August, by which time we will have broken up for the “summer” holidays. I would therefore
like to appeal to anyone who would definitely be interested in joining the class starting in September
to contact me, in order that I may collect numbers. If enough people can commit, then the class could be
given the lifeline we have been looking for. Please call me, Rachel Caddy on 07770 788186, I look forward
to hearing from you.
