Research Interests/Publications:
Dr. Gordon has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications in the field of cardiovascular
epidemiology and clinical trials. Topics include:
- The LRC-CPPT, ALLHAT-LLT, and other cholesterol lowering trials. Lead author of LRC collaborative
study design and 2nd results paper.
- Role of circulating HDLand triglycerides in coronary artery disease.
- Seasonal variation in cholesterol.
- Exercise ECG testing as a correlate of cardiovascular risk factors and predictor of cardiovascular events.
- Meta-analysis of cholesterol trials.
- Impact of diet, exercise, and weight on circulating lipids.
- Cholesterol in the elderly.
As a graduate student, Dr. Gordon was the primary author of four peer-reviewed publications on optical
activity as a structural probe of particulate systems. As an NHLBI post-doctoral fellow, Dr. Gordon was the
primary author of four peer-reviewed publications on the isolation and characterization of cytoplasmic
actins.
