Do you read the ingredients in the products you purchase? If so you will see what I’m writing about. I was standing in line waiting to get out of a local supermarket and picked up a pack of sugar-free cookies. The man standing next in line said, “What are they like.” I told him; “They’re ok, but beware of the Sorbitol and don’t eat more then a couple at a time.” I have written about this a few times. He started to read the package, frowned, and then the line began to move. When I got home I read the label and it dawned on me why he frowned. We all have read that manufacturers must list the contents of their product, flour, sugar, shortening, etc. The list started with Enriched flour, then cited all the so-called vitamins in the flour, like iron, riboflavin, thiamine, and folic acid, making it look like an ingredient. The list continued with Sorbitol, then shortening, cit- Baker Bill S T U F F ‘ N T H I N G S ing all the shortening ingredients made by man. They may do this to confuse you. In all, they listed 15 words but only 3 ingredients. Is this so we will give up and not read the labels? This cookie contained flour, Sorbitol sweetener, and shortening. That’s it, and it took 35 words to say that. If you want more information on this or any other subject drop me a line, I’ll give you my opinion. It’s called, “Cures They Don’t Want You to Know.” I paid almost 40 bucks for it with S&H. I like homeopathic medicine; well I like the idea of it. After reading about half the book I found it to be trash and tried to get my money back. All attempts failed. So I’m stuck with it. Take my advice, save your money. It tells you nothing about what they (whoever they are) want you to know or not to know. I have had a stubborn summer chest cold. So after a few attempts with Ben-Gay I made an old fashioned mustard plaster. I needed something to keep it pressed to my chest and that book worked just fine. My thought for the month is one we used in the service. Spaghetti is done when it will stick to the wall. Good baking & cooking Bakerbill.
