She showed her dog, Ch. Northwoods Take It T’ The Limit, CD, or better known as “Maxxi.” Ashley has been showing her for two years in breed and obedience competition and hopes to put more obedience and hunting titles on her. Ashley and Maxxi train for obedience events at Canine Training Association in Beltsville. She looks forward to training and showing Kira (Maxxi’s pup) this fall. Bob & Roberta Yaklich Celebrate 35th Anniversary Bob & Roberta Yaklich of Beltsville, MD celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Monday, July 4, 2005 at their home in Beltsville. Bob is a retired scientist who worked at the United States Department of Agriculture for 34 years, and Roberta is a real-estate broker with Realty Executives in Beltsville. Their three adult children and neighbors were present at a get-together in their home. Bob and Roberta came to Beltsville in 1972 when Bob was hired by BARC as a Research Scientist. They have lived in Beltsville ever since. The bride and groom were married in Erie, PA, where Roberta was born. Bob is originally from Aliquippa, PA. The early afternoon wedding took place at St. Peter’s Cathedral in downtown Erie, and a wedding reception was held shortly thereafter at the Sunset Inn overlooking Lake Erie. The best man was Bob’s older brother, John Yaklich, who resides in Florida and the bridesmaid was Adelaide Jacobson, Roberta’s younger sister who resides in Los Alamos, NM. There were two other attendants, Roberta’s younger brother, Austin Behan, who resides in Winston Salem, NC and Shirley MacIntyre, Roberta’s roommate from Edinboro Bob & Roberta Yaklich on their wedding day. College. A honeymoon was taken to Ireland. The young couple then resided in Bourne, MA for two years before coming to Beltsville in 1972.
Neighbors from page 4 CBCNS Welcomes a New Teacher; Celebrates 40th Year! Calverton-Beltsville Community Nursery School (CBCNS) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Barbara Nock has joined our staff. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught for three years in the Cooperative Play Program in Washington, D.C. during the mid-70’s, then for more than 20 years in the Head Start program in Prince George’s County. For the last six years she has taught Kindergarten at Beltsville Elementary School (formerly Beltsville Academic Center) and retired in June 2005. She is looking forward to working closely with parents in the cooperative nursery school setting. CBCNS, located at the Emman- uel United Methodist Church in Beltsville, was founded in the summer of 1965. A group of bridge-playing mothers, interested in a pre-school nursery experience for their children, decided to start the school. CBCNS continues to operate in the true spirit of a cooperative nursery school. Parents participate in the classroom on a rotating basis. The school provides a wide variety of handson experiences and field trips. This fall we will begin a 2/3year-old class. Children who will turn 3 by April 30, 2006 are eligible to enroll in this class. We will continue to have a 3-year-old class in addition to our 4-yearold classes.
