The Gaol is located at the j~ulction of Fort, Grntiot and Reaubien Sts. Detroit.
The Gaol is inadequate as a building, beillg neither sufficiently commodious or
secure. The site should he at least two miles from the centre of the city, with extensive
g-roul~ds nttaclled, on which, such of tlie yrisoner*~ as circumstances would warrant,
should be made work. There should be a Police " Locli-up," somewhere near the
centre of the city, or on Camps Martius, wit11 n perinanent nightly guard.
