This Superb Home for oltl and disabled setlinen is at present in progress of erection<br />

011 ;i lot of ground comprising eight acres, situated just above the city, Messrs. I. W.<br />

Ingel-sol1 and J ogeph Grainger am the contractors for the bnilding, and the general<br />

superintendency of its erection bas been entrusted by the C~ovemmeot to William<br />

Barclay. The ground cost $23,000. The building is estimated to cost $100,000.<br />

It is to be fir0 proof; all the floors are to be arclicd, tho joists arc to be of iron, as also<br />

the roof. The building is to be enclosed with an or~~smental iron verandah.<br />

Sisters of Motre Dame.<br />

These Sisters havo charge of the female department in the school attached to<br />

St. &faryVs church. Number of Scholars, 180. Those Ladies have also under their<br />

charge an Orphiin Asylum for girls of St. Mary's congregatjon, it1 which there are'<br />

now 3 5 o~phans.<br />

St. Vincert's select school for Girls, and Female Orphan Asylum.<br />

Tllis i;cilool is conducteil by the Sisters of' the conlmunity at Emmittsbur,g. In this<br />

school all the branches of x plain and ulsef~d edocntioil are taug1ltt, and the moral ancl<br />

the religious education of the s~holal-s is particularly ~ttended to. Ia addition, these<br />

Sisters have under their charge an O$lall Asylum for girls, in which there are 75<br />

orphan cllildrcn, and they also teach anotller school for poor children, numbering 250<br />

scholnrfi. Instruction is attended to 011 every Wednesday afternoon, and one hour<br />

before high mass on Sbnila~rs. and also one hour before vespers. Sister Mary Lucretia,<br />
