Historical
This faithful replication of an Old West stagecoach,
includes four horses complete with
harness, reins and hitch chains. A
driver and shotgun rider are included,
along with three passenger and hold-up man.
The model shown, built by Richard
Melillo, shows several creative details not included
in the kit to capture a 3-D ”Moment
in Time.” After creating a base he added actual
mud, rocks and dirt. The arrow is a
straight pin with paper feathers. He makes
his own rope to “tie on” the luggage by twisting
together embroidery floss. He added bits
of metal tape to the wheel edges.
To make the shotgun rider appear to be
turning around, he manipulated body parts
before painting. After doing extensive research,
Richard “ages” his model with paint
to help tell the story exactly as it might have
appeared.
