t the Sport and Play Construction<br />
Association’s (SAPCA) fourteenth<br />
AGM, held last month, Eric Page<br />
was elected as the association’s new chair,<br />
succeeding Tony Hession. Nigel Allen was<br />
elected vice-chair at the same event.<br />
Page has been in the sports surfacing<br />
industry since 1975. He worked for<br />
En-tout-cas as both accountant and<br />
contracts manager, before forming tennis<br />
court specialists Courtstall Services in 1985.<br />
Page says that two of his main objectives<br />
will be to ensure the successful completion<br />
of SAPCA’s strategic review and to continue<br />
to strengthen the association’s new quality<br />
assurance programme.<br />
Allen also brings more than 30 years’<br />
industry experience to his new role. He<br />
joined Charles Lawrence aft er graduating<br />
as a surveyor and is now a director and<br />
shareholder of the Charles Lawrence group<br />
of sports and play companies, all of which<br />
are SAPCA members. Th ese include Playtop<br />
Licensing, Charles Lawrence International<br />
and Replay Maintenance.<br />

three other newly-elected members at the<br />
AGM: George Mullan of Support in Sport<br />

and Steve Roby of DCM Projects.<br />
Commenting on his new role, Page said:<br />
“I will take a very positive lead in tackling<br />
the key issues that face the industry and<br />
look forward to working closely with Nigel<br />
and all the directors to ensure that the<br />
association meets the needs of its members<br />
and the marketplace – in what are clearly<br />
challenging times.”<br />
