Luigi Viprati first started pipemaking as a hobby. His creations found very positive reactions among his many pipe-smoking friends who encouraged him to present the pipes to the public and have them sold in some shops in Italy. In 1984, he decided to set up his own little professional pipe production. Today, Viprati’s handmade pipes rank among the cream of Italian pipe art. All pipes made for 9mm filters. For non-filter smoking we will supply an adaptor on request. Shown in the original size Damiano Rovera is a meber of one of Italy’s best known pipemaker families. In our 1988 catalogue we have first presented handmade pipes from the production of his father Dorelio Rovera then sold under the name Ardor. Now we’ve come full circle, and we are really glad to offer pipes again from the Rovera workshop. We have chosen more classical shapes, and we feel that Damiano Rovera masterly knows their manufacture. His speciality is a rustic finish which he has named „Ritmica“, a relief that sculpturally imitates the „rhythmic“ waves that come out in expertly sandblasted plateau briar pipes. As with all completely handmade individual pipes, slight divergence from the shapes shown here may occur depending on the briar’s grain and condition. HANDMADE PIPES FROM ITALY Damiano Rovera Billiard No. 1 „Ritmica“ Silver An attractive powerful and sturdy Billiard shape of perfect proportions as already created by Damiano’s father Dorelio Rovera in the 1980s. The thick-walled bowl has an al-most large filling capacity. The stem is mounted with a levelled plain silver band. Harmoniously shaped acrylic fishtail mouthpiece with an excellent bit. The cylindric bowl with fairly thick walls has a good medium filling capacity. The slender stem is mounted with a levelled plain silver band. Long acrylic fishtail mouthpiece with an excellent bit. Best.Nr. 0213-04 € 195,00 Damiano Rovera Skyscraper No. 4 „Ritmica“ „Yes - this is how it ought to be!“ This was Michael Apitz‘ first spontaneous comment on this imposing „Skyscraper“ pipe with its extra tall bowl. It has, of course, a very large filling capacity. Despite the bowl’s sufficiently thick walls this pleasantly light-weighted pipe requires a little more care, particularly with the first fillings in its break-in period.
