MECHA DE SEGURIDAD / SAFETY FUzE
Cordón flexible conformado por un núcleo de pólvora negra recubierto
de papel, varias capas de hilo de algodón, asfalto y cloruro de polivinilo
(PVC) para garantizar impermeabilidad y resistencia a la abrasión.
Usos
Se emplea como medio para iniciar el detonador número 8 fijado en
uno de sus extremos con un tiempo de combustión por unidad lineal
requerido para protección de la persona que realiza la voladura. Debe
manipularse con sumo cuidado, teniendo en cuenta que la mecha
de seguridad es sensible bajo ciertas condiciones, al golpe, fricción,
chispa y fuego.
Posee una excelente impermeabilidad, buena resistencia a la
abrasión, tracción y esfuerzos mecánicos.
Transporte y Almacenamiento
El producto debe transportarse, almacenarse y manipularse de
acuerdo con las normas y legislación aplicables a los explosivos.
Recomendaciones
Durante su uso la mecha de seguridad debe tener una longitud
suficiente para garantizar un tiempo de quemado de 120 segundos
o más.
Previo al uso de la mecha de seguridad, el supervisor a cargo debe
realizar una prueba del tiempo de combustión. La prueba debe
realizarse con 1 metro de mecha de seguridad para medir el tiempo

Uses

Transportation and Storage
The product must be transported, stored and handled in accordance
with all laws and regulations applicable to explosives.
Recommendations
When safety fuze is used in blasting, it should be long enough to
provide a burn time of 120 seconds or longer.
Prior to using safety fuze, the supervisor in charge must conduct a
test burn. The test burn will use at least 1 meter section of fuze which
is lit, then timed to determine actual burn time. A detonator or blasting
cap, shall only be crimped to a safety fuze with a proper crimping tool.
