San Ramon, Miraflor Wildlife Reserve
“For me, living and working in Miraflor was a very special experience.
We felt privileged to become part of the community. Building the
community centre, cleaning up the water supply, helping out in the
school and spending time making tortillas and coffee with the families
allowed us to learn a huge amount from them. No one had much in
financial terms, but the people were the kindest and most welcoming I
have known.”

“It was a great experience for the community to have the Raleigh
group here. They are excellent workers and have done a great job in
the community, not only in the construction of the building but also
in creating a garden for the school, cleaning our water source and
constructing a bridge, which is very important for access. They also
helped to teach in the school. The community took the group in as
though they were their own family.”

Para mí, vivir y trabajar en Miraflor fue una experiencia muy especial.
Nos sentimos privilegiados de formar parte de la comunidad. Construir
el centro comunal, limpiar el suministro de agua, ayudar en la
escuela, cocinar tortillas y chorrear café con las familias nos permitió
conocer una gran cantidad de cosas sobre ellos. Nadie tenía mucho
en términos monetarios, pero estas personas fueron la gente más
generosa y amable que haya conocido.”

“Fue una gran experiencia para la comunidad tener al grupo de Raleigh
aquí. Son excelentes trabajadores y han hecho un excelente trabajo en
la comunidad, no sólo en la construcción del salón comunal sino que
también en la creación de los viveros para la escuela, en la limpieza de
nuestra fuente de agua y en la construcción de un puente, el cual es
muy importante para el acceso. También se les ayudó a los niños en
las clases. La comunidad acogió al grupo como si fueran de su propia
familia.”
